Why does this crap happen to me??
Jan 5th, 2008 by Nick
- 9am Saturday: minor irritation fever, nothing bad
- 4pm Saurday: fever jumps to 99.7 (for me, normal is 97.8), I call for the house doctor who comes and looks at me and tells me to take the Zithromax I have with me. Taking Advil for the fever because I forgot to bring Tylenol with me
- 5am Sunday: Fever is 101.1, and I’m feeling dehydrated. Time to go to the Emergency Room…. I’m worried that this is viral, not bacterial.

CRAP
Hope you feel better SOON
Try lying out in the sun for a while. It seems to work wonders on the rare occasions that I am ill during nice weather. Use sunblock. Drink lots of fluids - I recommend ice cold fizzy lemonade. [I don’t expect you can get trustworthy iced tea outside the US.]
Nicky says that you should stay in bed and make Australian soup. And watch some TV. And go to sleep - a lot.
Missy says to hit the sauna.
And now a word from Christopher:

So are you going to bring back a “I went 10,000 miles to Australia and all I got was a fever” T-shirt?
Seriously, kick back in the hotel, drink a lot of fluids and watch some bad Aussie TV for a day or two. Hope you’re feeling better ASAP.
