Running out of space? A simple tip - Australia Post
Dec 25th, 2007 by Nick
One of the things I’m concerned about is how to get everything back home. I have bigger luggage allowances for my international flights than I do for my domestic ones. But the solution is actually pretty simple…
- Pack an extra duffel bag in your suitcase
- Take advantage of Australia Post
My 22″ Costco rollaboard weighs 28 pounds (13kg) when fully loaded but not expanded. That’s a lot of stuff. But to mail 13kg standard parcel post from Melbourne to Sydney costs only A$17.20 and takes two days. From Hobart, it’s a bit more, A$31.50 and four days, but it has to go on an airplane or a boat so that makes sense. But even A$31.50 is less than Virgin Blue will charge me for an extra bag.
This is one reason I decided to split my Sydney time in half, and stay at the same hotel both times. I can talk to the concierge, let him know that I am returning in two weeks, and that I will probably be mailing myself a few parcels.
