Photography Accessory Recommendation: Hakuba CT-8 Tripod
Apr 14th, 2007 by Nick
My Hakuba CT-8 Tripod is one of the accessories I could not travel without when visiting photo-rich locations. It weighs only 19.4 ounces, folds up to 11 x 2.5 x 2.5, and easily fits in my backpack. It extends to 44 inches tall, and I use it with the ten-second delay on my camera for taking shake-free photos.
The tripod was a semi-impulse buy. My digital camera is so small that I had a habit of accidentally shaking it when I pressed the shutter button. I was at Fry’s Electronics one day just walking around to get some exercise when I spotted the tripod on display. I bought it for a weekend trip I had later that winter to London and Dublin. The photos I took in London using the tripod and a 4MP camera were some of the best I have ever taken. I ended up cropping one of them and blowing it up to 8×10.
I expect to be using the tripod extensively in Uluru and in Tasmania. In Sydney and Melbourne, I do not think I will have it in my backpack every day, but I will probably use it at least one day in each city.
