Telstra: Expensive Wi-Fi
Apr 2nd, 2007 by Nick
Telstra is one of the big wi-fi hotspot providers in Sydney and Melbourne, including a bunch of McDonald’s and Starbucks. But it is much more expensive than T-Mobile and AT&T here in the USA. Telstra charges A$5 for just 15 minutes of access, or A$14 for an hour, with a whopping A$27.50 (!!) daypass option. By comparison, T-Mobile charges US$6 for an hour, or US$10 for a day.
If hotels are also going to be A$27/day for wired access, I may have to rethink my laptop plan and alternate days between the laptop and internet cafes.
