Travel Medical Insurance

I have a confession to make: I have never bought medical insurance when I have travelled out of the country on vacation. When I took my 5 and 3 week vacations in 1991 and 1993, my employer’s insurance had sufficient coverage for when I was outside the country. Since then, most of my vacations have been short enough that I have decided to take my chances with the process my current employer’s insurance has in place.

The problem: I have never heard of most of these companies.
There is a ton of fine print to read through, especially about pre-existing conditions and when I have to purchase the insurance. I’ll let you know how this progresses, as I’m going to have to make a decision in a few weeks.
